Raka today launched a new website for Blio, the revolutionary new eReader software. Blio is a free eReading application for Windows (with iOS, Android and Silverlight versions coming soon) that presents eBooks just like the printed version, in full color, and with all of the features you’d want from an eReader, and more. The software comes from K-NFB Reading, a joint venture between Kurzweil Technologies, headed by the legendary Ray Kurzweil, and the National Federation of the Blind.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 recently came out, and Raka helped the launch by designing, animating and developing a demo of the new features that makes version 11 an easy decision for those thinking about updating or buying the powerful software for the first time. Raka developed the demo by walking viewers through the software’s features in a combined technique of using real screenshots of the software, and illustrations to make the points clear. Raka designed and developed a website and application for Practically Green that helps visitors figure out how environmentally conscious they are, determine the next steps in “greening up” their lives, find products and services that experts and friends trust, and stay motivated to keep improving.

Practically Green is a combination of a free membership community site, blog, online quiz and application that all combine to give members a real tool set to change their lives and the planet. With integration into Facebook and Twitter, rewards and offers, awards and badges, the ability to see how others in your area are doing and more, this advanced website is already getting great reactions and helping to practically improve lives and the environment, one person at a time. Raka recently launched a new website for Turbana, one of the leading importers of bananas, exotics and pineapples, and the number-one importer of Fair Trade bananas and plantains in North America. We designed and developed this website for their plantain chips in Flash for a fun and engaging user experience. Keeping things light and playful, we built on their new brand and character “Max Platanicious” and created a colorful and bouncy site that introduces visitors to the delicious snack well-known in many countries outside of the United States. Raka designed a new website, including an XML-driven dynamic Flash piece, for Dragon NaturallySpeaking. The new website showcases the powerful software and details how it can make life a lot easier for those who use a computer to write (e.g. everyone). Check it out and be sure to try out the software!

Raka recently developed a microsite for Hood®. Built in Flash, the website showcases tennis legend Chris Evert and Simply Smart® milk. With tennis tips, videos, podcasts, recipes, contests and dynamic banner ads, the Simply Smart website is not only a great resource, but is a great example of Raka’s multimedia capabilities.

Raka recently designed and developed a new website for the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Built with the Expression Engine Content Management System (CMS), the website is able to be updated easily by IAPP staff. New pages, new articles, new press releases, etc. can all be entered into the website with very little effort. Event registration, membership registrations, a store and more make the website a great resource for the Association’s members.

Raka’s party to celebrate the holiday season, the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010 was held at the fantastic Wellington Room overlooking the harbor in downtown Portsmouth. We took over the entire restaurant and had a blast celebrating where we’ve been and reaffirming where we’re going. We’re already looking forward to the 2010 party!

Raka recently built a landing page, working with our partner VIA, for FairPoint Communications’ new campaign titled “Love Your Bundle”. The site features the lovable “bundle” animal in an integrated video form as well as all the details, in expanding Javascript buckets, you might need on Phone, TV and Internet from FairPoint.
