Timberland has turned to Raka to help market their products as well as educate and bring together their employees across the globe.
Challenge
Raka’s work with Timberland has varied from developing microsites with Javascript tools, to concepting and developing full community sites for the Timberland staff. The subject matter and Timberland team is always fantastic to work with, and there's always a new challenge for each project we undertake with them.
Solution
Interacting with a client who “gets it” is always fun and makes for a better end product. Timberland is one of these types of clients for us. Among the projects Raka has worked on for Timberland, the two stand outs are the Virtual Forest and the Earthkeeper Service sites. For both sites, Timberland came to Raka with an idea to get their employees (both at their headquarters as well as at retail stores across the world) involved in the environmental movement in a fun and engaging way. Raka’s answer to this challenge was to design and develop an online “forest” where users can log in, enter the “green” tasks they completed on a particular day, and then watch as their own personal illustrated forest grows more trees and animated animals. With an account management system, blog and database that drives the entire piece, the Virtual Forest was a massive undertaking that came together and launched to great acclaim. Users immediately began entering their tasks and forests began growing, and Timberland plans on offering prizes for the employees with the densest forests. In addition, the Earthkeeper Service site allows employees to invite other members (whose profile interests match set parameters) to join them at community service events. An online calendar, user accounts and more make this an interactive application that is robust, yet extremely simple to use.
Result
Raka works with Timberland to meet their marketing needs on a variety of projects, with each one meeting the same high standards that have driven their incredible growth over the years.
